Low Carb BBQ Sauce


What is summer without BBQ Sauce, to slather on your slow cooked ribs or chicken? To think, us low carbers can have those tasty sauces also without the sugar and worry we are going to put the pounds on. You will almost feel guilty thinking you are eating something bad!! Triple up your recipe to make sure you have plenty in the fridge.

Tip: BBQ Sauce is quite sweet; you can cut back on the stevia and xylitol a ¼ stevia and ¼ xylitol. It all depends on your sweet tooth.

BBQ Sauce

BBQ Sauce

 

1 ½ cups water
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 tbl yellow mustard
1/3 cup stevia
1/3 cup xylitol
1 tps liquid hickory smoke
1 ½ tps salt
½ tps onion powder
1/4 tps garlic powder
¼ tps paprika

Blend all ingredients in a cooking pot, place on stove till boiling then turn heat down medium to low but still bubbling slowly. It will take approximately 2 hours slow cooking to thicken up.
This recipe make approximately 1 cup of BBQ Sauce.

Yeild: 19.5 net carbs in 1 cup
1.2 net carbs per 1 tablespoon

Now if you make this recipe with sugar you would be eating 107 carbs per cup and 6.7 carbs per 1 tablespoon.
